FieldCompass
Privacy-first navigation for homeless services in Denver. The gap between help and the people who need it is often just a bad website — this is the fix.
The problem
Resource directories for people experiencing homelessness are usually PDF lists, outdated spreadsheets, or sites that require an account and a desktop. A stale listing can send someone to a shelter that's already full — that's a safety issue, not a typo.
The approach
FieldCompass is a mobile-first web app with a 4-step question wizard. It matches a person's situation — population, barriers, urgency — to 15 verified Denver resources across 7 categories, each with a real intake process. There is no account and no personal data is stored: the answers someone gives the wizard stay on their device. The site only counts visits with standard analytics.
The outcome
Live and in use. Every listing carries a verification status, confidence level and source type, so the system can flag stale data before a person ever sees it. Zero backend means near-zero operating cost — which is what keeps it free.
Four steps to the right door.
